This work reflects the author's clinical and human experience as a Clinical Psychologist and Individual Somatic Couples Psychotherapist, and her experience as a Woman. The book is divided into two parts. The first, a novelistic and fictionalized version, follows the course of psychotherapy sessions with several couples, their complaints, requests and suffering, as well as their path and evolution, including that of the Psychotherapist Laura herself, who accompanies them. The second is more clinical, with ideas, tools, exercises and important figures that may be very useful to psychotherapists, psychologists, doctors, educators and students in these areas, as well as to any professional in the area of Social Intervention.
In this book, I have explored the true meanings of the concepts “integral” or “integrative” and holistic. Many caregivers, psychologists, psychotherapists and even the curious struggle with the ideas of healing, mental health and rapid improvements. Many promise quick tools and protocols to reduce suffering and pain, when we cannot suppress the latter because it is inherent to life. In fact, we cannot provide answers to pain; we can only work with it, modulate it and alleviate it. However, the lack of awareness of this reality and the failure to accept it creates great confusion in our lives, in our self-regulation and search for balance.
